Up until one week ago, I had no idea that there was a children's book series about butts. That being said, when I found out that there was not only a book series, but also a television show, produced by Teletoon, I had to check it out. The Day My Butt Went Psycho takes place in a world where butts live beside their humans, not on them and the story's hero, Zach and his butt, Duce must fight evil butts and protect the world.
Have I mentioned the butts?
There are Goth Butts, Butt Unicorns, Old Butts, Alien Butts and a whole bunch of bad butts.
Henry and I got to check out the first episode while eating all sorts of snacks (some cheekily named) and meet the actor that stars as Zac. Henry loved the first episode even though he's not quite in the age demographic (6+) and a bunch of the jokes were over his head. I loved it because I got to say the word "butt" ten million times and nobody side-eyed me.

If you are a woman of a certain age and grew up watching Star Wars like I did, you probably love Princess Leia. She is a crack shot, intelligent and will not let men control her life or her. And anyone who tries to make her inferior feels her wrath! Plus, she's the only chick in a total guy flick and she's smarter and better at most things than the male leads. Princess Leia is the kind of Princess I can totally get behind, but apparently, Disney can't.
This week, a parent tweeted at the Mouse asking when she'd be able to get her daughter a Leia toy at the Disney Store along side all the other characters from Star Wars. Disney responded that they had no plans to manufacture Leia dolls.
Yep. The best princess they have (sorry, Belle) won't be available for sale at any time in the foreseeable future. So, what it looks like to me is that Disney doesn't think Leia is bankable. That Star Wars is a boy's world.
Well, the millions of us fans around the world tend to disagree, Disney, and it's about time you got with the program! I'm sure that boys and girls would adore adding Leia to their collections to play. There are multiple Lego Leias to choose from, and I'm pretty positive people snap her up.
Notice how I said, "people" and not "kids?" That's because the number one purchaser of Star Wars merchandise is overwhelmingly adult fans over the age of 30. These fans are often completists, meaning they need the entire set/figures/all the things in order to feel like each playset is complete.
Not having Leia is like when Julia Roberts goes back into the first dress store after the shopping spree in Pretty Woman.
It's a big mistake. HUGE.

Everything about these "mom jeans" actually sounds awesome, right? I have thought about this commercial a lot over the last year or two as my desire to cover up has trumped "fashion" (although, fashion seems to have followed suit). So, recently, when I was asked to try Yoga Jeans by local store Shopgirls, I thought, "Why not? If they're good enough for Claire Danes, their good enough for me!" These jeans aren't just "good enough," these jeans are, "hot, holy hell, why didn't I ever try them on before?!"
Every time I put them on, I pose EXACTLY like Amy Poehler in the commercial above. I mean, seriously, look at them:
Cute, right? These guys aren't cheap, but for around $100, you will find a quality pair of pants you'll wear every day. And seriously, I would have never tried these jeans on if it weren't for an old SNL commercial that's been stuck in my head for 15 years. So, thanks, old SNL commercial for forcing me to try on mom jeans and fully embrace this phase in my life.
I loved the whole experience of Shopgirls' motto: Shop Your Shape; and since I'm 'mom-shaped" these jeans fit my shape perfectly (insert cheeky smile here). Seriously, though, the idea of shopping our shapes as opposed to size or strange ideal really speaks to me, and is, I suspect, exactly what Hollywood stylists tell their famous clientele.
