R.I.P Dick Clark

A Voice Silenced

Twitter: @RyanSeacrest "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."

Legendary television producer and TV host Dick Clark died earlier today in a Los Angeles hospital of a heart attack. He was 82.

Dick Clark was TV. He was everywhere—more notably for TV shows like American Bandstand, TV Bloopers, all those game shows (I was addicted to Pyramid) and of course New Year's Rockin' Eve.

He made us laugh. He introduced us to music. He celebrated with the start of every new year with us.

He embodied everything you wanted in a host...that voice, that smile, that command of the audience and that ease and flow in front of a camera and on a microphone.

He was perfect for that role of TV host. He was born to take on that role.

He was a mentor to many and he displayed a grace and presence that so very few host every achieve—that's what made him so legendary. He was relatable to everyone. His fans were of so many generations...young and old knew who who he was and held to that icon status.

He will be so very missed.

And to Ryan Seacrest—the torch has officially been passed now. The microphone is all yours. Serve your mentor's and friend's memory well.
