Summer is winding down, and so too are summer make up trends. This past season we saw some great new make up looks but there were also some just absolutely terrible trends which should be abandoned right away.
1. Eye Shadow Stripes
This is a nightmare for make up artists. Summer 2016 saw some really powerful eye shadow shades emerge but the trend to wear them as stripes, in an unblended fashion, needs to stop. When eye shadow shades are un-blend the effect is clown like and, often, looks as if the application is haphazard.
Bold colours are fine to wear they just need to be properly gradiated in order to look sophisticated.
Creating racing stripes, with eye shadow, just looks unfinished.
2. Lips
Yes, a natural lip can look quite chic but when the lip disappears the wearer can look washed out.
Make up is a balancing act and when one element of the look is off balance the whole effect is thrown. Creating a natural lip does not mean making the lips disappear. This trend has been everywhere this summer and it really is time to retire it.
3. Intense Bronzer
Bronzer was a mainstay on every collection this summer but somehow that translated in to the trend of wearing it everywhere and in great quantities. Too much bronzer just looks very fake.
Bronzer should make the skin look sun-kissed not intensely orange. Lighten up with the application - or better yet put the bronzer away for the rest of the year.
