When it comes to fashion and beauty, I'm all about getting the look for less, so when I found a family-friendly meal that requires minimum effort for maximum impact, I had to come over here and share!
Although I love the convenience of eating out (a lot!), sometimes it's more satisfying to cook a restaurant-inspired meal at home . . . especially because you have control over the ingredients used. This Wendy's Copycat Chili recipe has been in my family for over 10 years, and while it is delicious, it is also labour-intensive (you have to stir it every 15 minutes for 2-3 hours!).
I've recently figured out how to adapt the recipe for my slow-cooker - see below. Tasty, easy to cook, AND healthy? TOTAL winner in my house!
Ingredients:
Brown ground beef in a frying pan, use a wooden spoon to break up large pieces. Drain off any liquids.
Transfer to slow-cooker (I use a 4 quart oval one), add in all the other ingredients.
Cook on high for 3 hours. DONE! So simple and soooo good!
You can garnish with grated cheddar, diced onions, and cilantro.
(Makes 12 servings)
I usually divide the chili into 3 portions. I serve one to my family of 4 and freeze the other 2. In my house, we have it over rice or with tortilla chips. You can also serve it over baked potatoes, french fries, hotdogs—the possibilities are endless! If you're not a fan of red meat, you could also try it with chicken or turkey mince instead.
