Earth Hour Activities For The Family

Earth Hour is Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 8:30-9:30pm. 

Ready to play cards by candlelight? To sing Down By The Bay in rounds? Ready to turn your kids on while you turn off the lights?

There are lots of things to do with kids sans electricity (I know hard to believe right?!)...

• Back rubs (for kids, for parents, for everyone!)
• Name a country that starts with C (seriously we play this all the time)
• Compliment jar (everyone writes something nice about the person to their left, without signing it, and then they are all read aloud)
• Song games (itsy bitsy spider, criss cross, the more we get together)
• Make a fort in your living room with blankets and pillows
• Go for a stroll around the block
• Invite friends over to play twister
• Play hopscotch with the neighbour kids
• Walk to the park
• Jump
• Bike
• Skateboard
• Lego
• Board game

And you might remember I had a list of Earth-friendly movie recommendations for families which could make for some entertaining Earth weekend watching.  

And if Earth Hour is past your bedtime...turn off the lights for an hour—an hour before your bedtime. The Earth will understand.
