Blissdom Canada: Lucky

Amazing Moments From Amazing Women

by: Sharon DeVellis

Every year I leave Blissdom feeling inspired but this year I left feeling lucky.

Lucky that I work with such a talented, diverse, fun group of people.

Lucky that so many of the women I admire are now also my friends.

Lucky that Twitter has allowed me to connect with people I would never have met otherwise.

Lucky that I've been offered amazing opportunites I will never take for granted.

Lucky that I know learning never ends and there are no stupid questions so we need to continue to ask.

by: Sharon DeVellis

My friend Alison and I were talking about the use of ... in writing.  Both of us are guilty as charged and while my use of smiley faces and LOL are an addiction, one I'm currently trying to break using a punishment/reward program that consists of elastic bands and Baileys, I stand by my use of ...

Because they aren't just three periods in a row.  Those ... are a pause.

And pauses are a necessary part of my writing… it’s how I control you, the reader.

Sharon is a Common Sense Parent which is somewhere in between being free-range and helicopter. She believes in being active as a family and eating well 85% of the time. The other 15% is for the days when she's PMSing and then all bets are off. So far her parenting style has worked wonders for her two boys who astound her on a daily basis but that's not to say she doesn't have time to totally screw it up. She can't teach you how to keep your house clean while balancing a job and motherhood but if you're a mom who's struggling to figure it out, you've found your tribe.
