Jim Szilva is the co-host of “Sudbury Mornings with Carrie and Jim” on Big Daddy 103.9 CHNO-FM in Sudbury, Ontario. His voice has been heard in radio and television commercials from coast to coast over the last 25 years, and in several video games including “Traitor’s Gate”. He’s done everything from acting and motivational speaking to stand-up comedy and journalism, but he now gets to entertain the city of Greater Sudbury every weekday morning with his infectious humour and wacky song parodies. Jim’s claim to fame is that his father built The Big Nickel, and although it’s now part of Sudbury’s Science North/Dynamic Earth tourist attraction, he still brags about his dad who received the Order of Ontario in 2009 for his contributions to the city of Sudbury.
Jim is a father of three and a husband of one. He and his wife Natalie, who is an R.N., have been married for 20 years and they’ve learned the secret to success is teamwork. “Nobody likes doing housework, but it’s a lot easier to handle when you do it together” say the Szilvas. They are happy to report that they’re best friends, and after all these years Jim still thinks his wife is the yummiest mummy of all.
