It's a sad day in Hollywood Land. Gwen Stefani and hubby, Gavin Rossdale have called it quits after 13 years of marriage. The musical power couple has three sons together. The eldest, Kingston, is nine, while the youngest, Apollo, is just 17 months old.
Though the No Doubt singer filed for the divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences," the separation was mutual, with both she and the 49 year-old Bush front man pursing joint custody:
"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," read their public statement.
In an eerie interview, the 45 year-old Voice star admitted in Cosmopolitan's March 2015 issue that "it's a miracle [she and Rossdale] could stay together this long."
"[Gavin's] on a short tour right now, and he wrote me the sweetest note this morning. It's good to have those days when we both do our own things. I think that's what keeps relationships going, when both people can be themselves and have their own individuality. That's especially important for women. It's hard to find time for yourself."
There is now speculation that Rossdale was cheating on Stefani, but I'm really not sure it matters to anyone but the two of them. The fact is, both spent a lot of time away from their families touring with their respective bands, which is a strain on any relationship.
The couple got together after their bands toured together in 1995. As far as celebrity marriages go, they had one of the best track records. They seemed solid - much like Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck - at least from the outside. A good reminder that life is no fairy tale for celebrities. If anything, the pressures of keeping it together are even stronger for A-listers.
Not sure what to give that new couple for their wedding? Throw the registry out the window, and give the gift that keeps on giving. No, not the 'Joy of Sex. What today's newlyweds truly need is a copy of the Married Kama Sutra - aka "the world's least erotic sex manual."
