Riding on the heels of the uber-super-duper successful film adaptation of the stage play, Les Miserables is set to return to the Toronto stage this fall as part of the 2013-2014 Mirvish theatre season and they're looking for actors to play Gavroche and Young Cosette. For those of you familiar with the musical, you know these are both some powerhouse vocal performances and integral to the show...so, if you know of a boy or a girl with serious chops, this weekend is your chance!
So, a week or two ago, I blogged about Kim Kardashian and her seemingly difficult time embracing her pregnancy. Boy, I was wrong. I talked about how I didn't understand how she could feel so uncomfortable in her own skin and not just embrace her body and the beauty that comes along with pregnancy. Then, I started noticing magazine covers on line at the grocery store. It was like they were jumping out at me.
Ah Amy Poehler. She's funny, she's witty. She writes and stars in her own TV show, and she's best friends with my other absolute favourite person in Hollywood — Tina Fey. What you may not know about Amy, though, is that she has taken the time over the last year or so to create a web series called Ask Amy as part of her YouTube Smart Girls Channel.
Last week, after reading Tanya Enberg's post Goodbye Rock n' Roll, Hello Children's Songs, I commented about a 'kids' album that I actually really love and realized that so many new parents are probably driving themselves batty, bored to tears over Toopy and Binou, ripping their hair out to The Wiggles and ready to run screaming into a burning building every time they hear Barney.
I realized today that I really want to check out Sons of Anarchy and have been meaning to watch it for quite some time, except I just never did. So, tonight, I'm going to plop down and check out the first episode or two. And in deciding to watch SoA, I thought about all the great shows I recommend to people to check out all the time, and thought I'd share some of my favourites with you.
It seems like I can't get enough of Kim Kardashian. Between her reality show, her relationship with Kanye West, and her current fashion choices, I just can't look away. Kim's close to 6 months pregnant, and, well, her wardrobe seems....uncomfortable? I think Kim's body is beautiful, and she's pretty gorgeous, but lately, I'm starting to wonder if this whole pregnancy thing isn't getting the best of her mentally.
Living in major cities (or near them) helps when we're planning our March break activites. From city run day-events to music lesons and concerts, there's all sorts of stuff to keep our kids happy. This weekend, Toronto hosted one of many comic book conventions, Comic Con, run by the same team that does Fan Expo and as always, kids are free!
March break is rapidly approaching (where is the time going this year, seriously?), and I'm excited to be going to the launch of the Wizard World Fun Park at Toronto's Exhibition Place, Better Living Centre this Monday, and I want you to go, too!
So, clearly, I love celebrity gossip. If I didn't, I wouldn't be writing all these posts, engaging with you guys. And I follow all sorts of other bloggers. From Michael K to Lainey Gossip. I also am a big fan of TEDx talks, and last month, as part of their move to Vancouver, TEDx invited Elaine Lui (of Lainey Gossip) to give a talk. I know what you are thinking — what kind of talk can a celebrity blogger give at a huge socio-scientific conference?
As you may have heard, CTV is producing an all-Canadian version of The Amazing Race airing this summer and are looking for submissions. Enter Amy and Kris—mums and teachers from Toronto. These two are funny, witty and are hoping to show Canada that "life doesn't end after pushing out a placenta!"
