Dear Awards Shows

It's Not Me...It's You

emmy-logo

Listen, Emmy Awards, it's not me. Not this time, at least. I know that pop culture can be exhausting, divisive, and downright rude, but last night's telecast of your ceremony was awful. The most entertaining things were a ping pong joke and a dance number that didn't really have anything to do with television. I wasn't expecting Breaking Bad or even The Sopranos, but I was expecting more than what I got. Which wasn't much.

I get that times are tough. People are moving away from traditional television. Netflix is really giving you a run for your money with quality programing. People don't pay for things anymore. Game of Thrones is the most stolen show ever. EVER. So, if I were you, wouldn't you think something strange is going on? Something different needs to happen? That you, traditional television, need to rethink your life?

You do.

Instead, you show the world how out of touch and outdated you are by putting all your old-school-not-willing-to-change bits into one basket, hosted by NPH. The world is going digital, and you're so coaxial, your host is a stage star (not that there's anything wrong with that, but you know what I mean).

And while you're at it, please take your friend Oscar with you.

The Globe can stay though, she brings champagne.

So, spill it! What do you think of awards shows?
