So the other day I received this email from Sharon DeVellis....
Truth be told I had no idea...but I'm all about celebrating all things Duran Duran. They had prominent places up on my bedroom walls as a teenager. I had a massive crush on one Nigel John Taylor. Le sigh.
Alright, I figured what better way to kick off the week than with some music videos....
First up....Ellie Goulding "Starry Eyed"
And a double shot of eye candy for you...this is the latest music video for Jordan Knight's new single 'Stingy' featuring his hotness Donnie Wahlberg. No need to thank me ladies....
Since I was 18, one of the items on my bucket list (OK we didn't call them 'bucket lists' back then...but I wrote it in my diary) was to meet one Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids On The Block and pinch his ass.
When NKOTB reunited and went on their boy band super tour with the Backstreet Boys, my drive and determination to see that dream fulfilled was reborn. And cue the creation of Mission: Donnie Wahlberg Ass Grab.
"I remember thinking it was a pretty cute joke when she sent me the demo, but when I woke up singing the hook…I knew it was real shit somehow."-Lee Miles
Like her namesake, Novi is a new artist that is on a fast-track to stardom.
The Sheepdogs, an unsigned rock band from Saskatoon, SK, has struck it big time by winning Rolling Stone's first-ever cover contest. So come Friday, the band will have their faces plastered all over the iconic music magazine.
Bottom line - publicity wise, that's HUGE. Oh and the band is also getting a deal with Atlantic Records.
I'm a huge fan of The Kill Van Kulls with their outstanding "80s-totally-would-have-been-included-on-a-John-Hughes-soundtrack" vibe tracks “Wooden Heart,†and “Fools Wish.â€Â
So here is some new music to add to your current workout playlist because music is a great motivator...especially when you'd rather be sitting your ass on the couch, in your sweats, eating ketchup chips and Skor bars instead of working out (so not talking about myself...yes, yes I am).
“She’s sizzling because she’s got one of the best voices in the scene.” ~(The Daily Record ‘Hot Scots list’)
Ashton Lane (Esther O'Connor) is a little KT Tunstall, meets Michelle Branch, meets Vanessa Carlton, meets Sheryl Crow, meets Stevie Nicks. And she comes from all things musical....her dad Graeme Duffin played with Wet Wet Wet...and she started song writing at age 14.
So here are some 'I've gotta see that again' videos with a musical slant that I came across this week while wasting time....umm researching on the web.
Anna Graceman, 11 ~ America's Got Talent 2011, Atlanta Auditions
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2 cover - by Matthew Mayfield
This Canadian singer has the wit of Letterman and Leno combined, and the vocal prowess to back up every word… an acoustic female who finds a happy medium between Sarah McLachlan’s sad ballads and Ingrid Michaelson’s sugary seduction.” ~ Amiestreet.com
So I few days ago I was having a music 'who are you listening to now that you love' conversation with a friend of mine (we'll call him 'King') and he mentioned having newly discovered a UK band. The band is not so new but it was new to him.
So last week on Twitter, I posted an R&B video from back in the day (Another Bad Creation - Iesha) and within minutes I was flooded with 'walk down R&B memory lane tweets.
So I figured what better way to kick off the new week than with some old skool R&B tracks...back when R&B reigned supreme on the music charts.
