Consuelo: A Song By James Struthers

it's not every day you get a song written about you.

Consuelo: A Song By James Struthers

This is a totally a self-serving post...but it's not every day you get a song written about you.

Literally.

I've written about and featured a emerging Canadian singer/songwriter from Winnipeg, by the name of James Struthers, quite a few times here on the YMC BSides. Plus I nominated him as the Bell Media Emerging Artist, which he won a few months ago...so obviously I think he's super talented.

He told me a while back he was going to write a song about me as a thank you...and he did. This song made my day and then some.

The Cecilias of the world have their song courtesy of Simon and Garfunkel and now the Consuelos have theirs thanks to James Struthers.

All Hail Maroon 5

And Adam Levine's Abs

All Hail Maroon 5

So I'm on a Maroon 5 music kick today. And it has nothing to do with Adam Levine's abs.

Wait. Wait. Yes it does. Le sigh.

Maroon 5's new album 'Overexposed' drops on June 26th and you can catch them on the NBC Today Show Summer Concert Series on June 29th.

While I go collect myself from 'AL ab induced bliss'...here are some Maroon 5 videos to check out.

Matthew Mayfield: A Banquet For Ghosts

It's le damn good

Matthew Mayfield: A Banquet For Ghosts

I've blogged about Matthew Mayfield a few times here on the Bsides....he is hands down one of my all-time favourite singer/songwriters out there in music land.

I am such a fan that I even donated money to the making of this latest album, 'A Banquet For Ghosts' via Pledge Music. Yes look at me putting my money where my mouth is...I so practice what I preach.

He sings with such conviction and passion that your soul just sucks it all in...and Matthew Mayfield's latest record...it's just so 'le sigh' worry. It's le damn good. I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it.

If there is one album you go and buy on iTunes this week, make it this album. It's perfection.

And Matthew is still on my concert bucket list...so cough cough hurry up and get your ass up to Canada...I'll even come out to Montreal and Toronto to come see you perform cough cough.

And the other thing that Mr. Mayfield does well is covering songs with his own twist...here are three of his latest offerings.
