A Smile and A Great Purse Work Wonders

My youngest daughter is two months old as I am rummaging through my closet.

I wish I could make an excuse to not attend my husband's work Christmas party, but I know I can't. We have not been out on a date since our baby was born.

My youngest is sound asleep already as my sister arrives to babysit our three-year old and our baby. I finally find a sparkly black top and pull on elastic pants that I realize are maternity. Sigh. This evening just keeps getting better and better.

I pull out my make-up case in the bathroom that has a layer of dust on it. I apply my old make-up as best as I can. I have not had an opportunity to wear make-up for a long time.

We are about to run out the door when I realize for the first time in months I need to change purses. I only need a small purse to hold a few personal things and not the ten pounds of baby things. I ran back into my closet thinking this is a sign I should not go. Too much work to get out the door.

The closet shines like a silver beam on my red Matt and Nat clutch. Perfect. I fill it up and head out the door. All through cocktails and the meal I receive compliments on how great I look and where did I get my purse. I realize that I am smiling.

The lightweight of my purse reminds me that smiles are a great accessory with a great purse.
