Jane's Dining Room

ask the stylist

by: Sarah Gunn

I am really excited to be launching a new series on my blog called, 'Ask the Stylist.' Each month, I will respond to a design dilemma from one of you. You provide the question, along with photos and other details, and I will put together a design plan right here on my blog.

This first design dilemma comes from Jane. She wants new drapery, art and lighting for her dining room. The space is a blank slate with neutral-ish green chairs and dark maple table.

DIY Chevron Tray

create a custom tray with fabric and a cookie sheet

by: Sarah Gunn

This is the time of year when we all feed the need to be more organized. A great way to 'corral your clutter' is to use decorative trays throughout your home. They add colour and pattern and keep small every day items together in one place. I created this fabric covered tray for a recent Cityline segment. It now has a happy new home on my coffee table. For now, it holds flowers.

One Bookcase, Four Looks

Pretty and Inexpensive Ways to Transform A Bookcase

by: Sarah Gunn

I recently gave a bookcase in my living room new life by adding a coat of paint and a gorgeous Royal Design Studio to the back.

I love the results but I also want to share other, less permanent, ways to add some colour and pattern to the back of a bookcase.

My Son's Big Boy Room

Gray, Blue and White All Over

by: Sarah Gunn

I am not sure I am quite ready for this, but my baby boy is growing up. He is getting to big for his crib. Which means it is time to transform his nursery room into a Big Boy Room.

Although I am finding it hard to think about letting go of the crib and the art I made that hung on the wall for both boys as babies, I am excited about the vision I have for redecorating his room. I am in love with the idea of a gray, blue and white room, with a splash of yellow {his favourite colour}.

The Face, The Voice, The Blog!

Sarah Gunn loves interior design almost as much as she loves her two adorable boys and her hot husband.

She has had a vision her whole life of her dream house. You know. The mansion that sits on the ocean with a pool and the massive wrap around porch. And a butler. Then she grew up. Turns out life isn't a fairytale and she's not exactly living in a castle. In fact, her house is in constant need of design intervention. Little things like children, exhaustion and budgets get in the way.

But this story does have a happy ending: years of experience watching decorating shows and clipping ideas from her favourite design magazines have equipped Sarah with the mad decorating skills she needs to turn anyone's house into the home of their dreams with great tips, tricks and inspiration.

Join Sarah each week as she shares DIY projects, inspiration and her favourite new décor finds...all on a budget every mummy will love.

Sarah has recently had a dream of a lifetime come true: she now shares her mad DIY skills on the popular show, CityLine. She is also now designing spaces for children. If this is all a dream, then please don't wake her up.
