Save Money And The Planet

Greetings from the mean green mummy (perhaps a tad presumptuous; should I say aspiring?).

Despite being a confirmed non-purist and middle roader in the movement; if you're looking for money saving tips with an eco twist I'm full of it - er- them.  Just recently I said good bye to the fancy green product line I was trying to assimilate; simply too expensive for me right now.  I guess its back to baking soda and vinegar and Burt's bees.  Could be a lot worse.

Here are 3 au currant tips to cut costs with a little conscience:

Almond oil is wonderful for the bath; but it's pricey.  Extra virgin olive oil works just as well.  I always add that; about 5 drops of calming and cleansing lavender oil and 1½ tea spoons of coarse sea salt to my girls' tubby.  I feel sort of like they're little Egyptian princesses - not delusions; just illusions to occupy the chattering monkey mind.

If you're looking for a quality family supplement but can't commit to hundreds of dollars a month for super exotic berry juices; we use greens plus for kids.  It packed with nutrient and I love it especially because it contains 8 non-dairy bacterial cultures. I buy a 256g container for around $45 and it lasts more than a month at 3 scoops a day.  I put it our morning smoothie (orange juice; yoghurt; ground flax; and a banana); mixed in a glass measuring cup with my hand blender).

Instead of continually buying glass or metal spice containers; pour spices from bag or bulk into mason jars to reduce packaging and save money because you are buying more of the spice.  You can even find decorative lids.  It makes getting at the spice so much easier.  Sterilized; half sea shells of all sizes make beautiful scoops.  Love it too much.

Have fun and do something eco-minded if you're not already.  If you are; please be patient with those that are not as quick to come around.  We need them.
