Perfect Your Webcam Etiquette

Some Tips for Webcam Etiquette

As busy moms, finding ways to optimize days and look your best, is a must.  Multi-tasking and keeping in touch with girlfriends and family has become a lot easier with video-calling technology.

Before jumping on your first video call, here are some tips for webcam etiquette to ensure a fun and flawless experience:

Forget what you’d been told – looks DO matter: Although you’re not meeting in person, today’s webcam technology produces high-quality video that will make unwashed hair, crinkled blouses and sloppy makeup noticeable.

Be cautious of body language: Remember, the person on the call can see you, and body language such as eye-rolling, snickering or finger-pointing won’t be appreciated.

Keep food in the kitchen: It’s no secret that our constant output of energy makes us hungry. But during a call, falling crumbs or food in your teeth can be distracting.

Don’t look distracted: Constantly checking your watch, reclining or writing to-do lists deliver the message that you’re not interested in the conversation.

Use a proven webcam and video calling application: No one likes choppy or dropped calls. Logitech makes great webcams that come with Logitech Vid, a video-calling service that allows you to invite friends using their e-mail addresses and delivers a streamlined setup and clean, intuitive interface for dramatically simplified video calling.

Can you hear me now? Make sure you are using a headset or webcam with an integrated microphone. Logitech’s webcams contain built-in microphones to ensure you can be heard.

Check your surroundings: Scan the room for inappropriate background items, including laundry draped over a chair and scattered groceries. Keep these items to a minimum and aim for a clutter-free space to avoid distractions.

Limit background noise: For the best audio results conduct your webcam call in a quiet environment to achieve clear and crisp sound.

Check the lighting: The best video quality is delivered in a well-lit room, and it is best not to sit with your back to the window during daylight hours.
