We may only be five months into 2013, but there are some amazing, must-read romance and erotica books just published that you should not miss. From heartbreaking stories of redemption to downright dirty smut, authors are releasing top-notch books at a record pace. Not everyone can call reading their profession, so you want to make sure you're not wasting your time and money when you sit down to read. Thankfully, you have me to help guide you through all of the what-to-read lists and give you an honest opinion of what romance books should be up next on your e-reader.
Though Jasinda Wilder is a prolific indie writer, Falling Into You is the first book of hers I've read. Luckily for both of us, she hit a grand slam with this book because I'm now a lifelong fan.
Run, don't walk, your little fingers over to the buy button to get this book. Falling Into You destroyed my emotions on every possible level. It's no secret that there is death and love in this book, but the depths Jasinda takes us into the lives of the characters is overwhelming. Over and over, her words of struggle and of love and of friendship and of loss wrapped around my heart, forcing me to fall into the story. [my full 5/5 star review]
My favorite quote from Falling Into You:
He doesn’t fix me, doesn’t heal me. He just makes life worthwhile. He helps me remember to breathe, shows me how to smile again.
UnBeautifully is the second in a series by Madeline Sheehan about a nefarious motorcycle club and its extended family. There are no hearts and flowers in these books, so if you're looking for a book that is nothing but sweetness and love, this is not for you. But if you're willing to open up your mind to a gritty story about loss and passion, dare yourself to read UnDeniable and UnBeautifully.
I fell in hard and fast. Now I'm so happy to admit that I was blown away by this second book in the series. It's insanely raw and haunting and at the same time lovely. Without a doubt, UnBeautifully is a MUST READ. [my full 5/5 star review]
My favorite quote from UnBeautifully:
Because once you had a taste of a good woman, suddenly nothing else mattered but her.
After finishing its predecesor, The Education of Sebastian, I just about fell all over myself needing to read The Education of Caroline. Luckily for anyone who reads the pair now, you won't have to wait after the mega-cliffhanger ending of Sebastian. This roller coaster love story made me cry, weep, swell with happiness, and want to go back in life to find my own Sebastian.
After being slain by the ending of Sebastian, there was no way I was going to pass up Caroline. Seeing as this is now one of my favorite books, I was not disappointed. And then going back and reading Sebastian after reading Caroline, my heart broke and healed so many times at re-reading all of the fulfilled dreams. Beautiful, wonderful, heart-crunching, heart-healing, and a must-read-or-die series. [my full 5/5 star review]
REAL is one of those books that when you're done reading it, you want everyone else you know to read it, too. What delves into struggles with how to deal with someone who has mental illness becomes a love story that is so touching, you find yourself wanting your own Remy to take care of. It's passionate, raw, and very, very...real.
INTENSE. There's one word that can summarize this book in its entirety: intense. From the characters' histories to their workout regime to their sexual relationship, Brooke and Remy are intense. There's tension packed onto tension with a side of tension all throughout the story, so when it all pays off with such intensity, REAL makes for a must-read book. [my full 5/5 star review]
My favorite quote from REAL:
“Have you seen you? I can barely take my hands off you. Taking my eyes off is like asking me to deliberately drown, I just can’t do it.”
Tangled is not a typical romance book, written in the first-person heroine's point-of-view, where love grows despite all odds. This is a book told from the male's point-of-view, and he's not just any man; this is Drew Evans, self-professed arrogant man-whore. But Drew goes and falls in love with someone he shouldn't have even looked twice at, and through all of his narration, we, the reader, laugh our way through his hilarious life justifications and lessons.
I've always wanted to know what goes through the mind of an egomaniacal playboy—except I didn't plan on falling in love with him in one day. Having never actually been inside the mind of any playboy, egotistical or otherwise, I hope they all think just like Drew Evans. Tangled is not a must-read; it's a drop-everything-except-your-spare-batteries and read. [my full 5/5 star review]
My favorite quote from Tangled:
Every healthy man in the world wakes up with a stiffy. A fatty. Morning wood. I’m sure there’s some medical explanation for the phenomenon, but I just like to think of it as a little present from God.
Angie Lynch is a Native Floridian without a tan, probably because she spends her days hard at work inside on the magical internet. For the past several years, Angie has worked way too hard at building clout as an influencer in food and margaritas as well as being a source for laughable pop culture commentary on her blog, A Whole Lot of Nothing. In addition to that nonsense, Angie recommends books on Smut Book Club, is a contributing writer to Mom.me, spreads the word of Awesome at We Know Awesome, and tries to be a very professional content creator for local business blogs. Stalk her properly on Twitter @alotofnothing and on Facebook.
