The Good Lovelies

City Music Meets Country Music

Funny, witty and upbeat with a touch sass is the perfect description for Canada's Juno Awards winners, the Good Lovelies.

How the Good Lovelies (Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore) got together is a bit of a mystery: Sue remembers meeting her band mates during a limbo competition, Caroline thinks they met at a chess tournament, but Kerri is convinced they first crossed paths during a bar fight...

Lady Gaga Born This Way

New Music From Lady Gaga

So Lady Gaga is back in all her artistic glory with her latest video for 'Born This Way'.

It's Gaga in all her creative fierceness - coming in at just over 7 minutes long.

I could have done without the multiple birthing shots in the video (I won't be looking at egg whites for a while) but I digress.

And at the end there is a close-up shot of Lady Gaga face with that Madonna-esque gap in between her teeth, an homage to the Material Girl? Perhaps. I mean everyone IS comparing the song to Madonna's 'Express Yourself'.

Jennifer Hershman

Spotlight On The West Coast Artist

After spending the last few years writing, co-writing, raising a baby into a toddler and being inspired by her surroundings in Main Street neighbourhood in Vancouver, Jennifer Hershman wound up making a record of her very own with producer Joe Cruz, “It came about quite organically, actually, which is the essence of how we wanted to capture the songs on the EP, Joe was quite taken by the songs that I had demo-d, and thought we could string them to life with a talented band”.

William Fitzsimmons

Music That Will Touch Your Soul

From Nettwerk Music my new favourite voice on my iPod is William Fitzsimmons.

Elbow

New Music From The UK

Really I should get an honourary UK citizenship just based on how much I love the music that comes from across the pond.

The new Elbow album 'build a rocket boys!' drops in the UK in March and we have to wait until April for the North American release.

Here is Elbow and their latest 'Neat Little Rows'.

Amazing. What's not to love really?

Bell Biv Devoe

A Musical Flashback

So yesterday this tweet came across my Twitter feed:

@jimmyfallon: Bell Biv Devoe reuniting on the show tomorrow night!!!

Umm hello cue the squeals of delight.

Bell Biv Devoe. So loved them back in the day.

I mean they just don't make R&B like they used to.

So I am just a little giddy about this reunion. Just a little.

To get in the proper 'BBD' state of mind for tonight's reunion on Jimmy's stage...some videos, old skool Bell Biv Devoe.

30 Day Song Challenge

Bring On The Musical Challenge

So last month I got hooked on the '30 day song challenge' thanks to a music loving friend on Facebook.

It's as basic as any challenge can get - 30 days, 30 music questions which act as your Facebook status, daily tweet on Twitter or blog post.

So here are the questions along with my answers. It's a fun, mindless exercise in all things musically speaking.
