The Summer Fun Project - Free Activities

Part Two of my Summer Series

The Summer Fun Project - Free Activities

Some of the best summer activities are free!  Here is part deux of my Summer Fun Project with some cross-Canada free activity ideas for every family...this is print-out-worthy information people.  Free summer kids' activities!

Public Library - often air conditioned public libraries can offer a cooling zone along with kid activities.  Not only can you borrow a book (keep building those literacy skills over summer!), you can also borrow audio books, music cds and popular dvds (just ask YMC's resident Party Mummy aka @LisaThornbury).  Also, check out summer reading programs, craft days and our favourite library bingo!  (Tip: go online and place a hold on a favourite book or longed after dvd)

West 49 LRN2SK8 Tour presented by Disney XD - this is a cross-Canada tour offering a FREE 1/2 day program for kids 5+ to learn to skateboard in a safe and supervised environment.  Check out their website www.WEST49LRN2SK8.com. for locations and times.

Home Depot Kids' Workshop - next time your need a screw (no pun intended) see if it coincides with the Home Depot Kids Workshop. (held once a month - every second Saturday).  Children must be accompanied by an adult (no, it's not daycare people).

City Pool and Splash Pads -   Aside, doing some personal research I just saw on the Canadian Red Cross website that " In Canada, there are no approved flotation devices for children weighing 20 pounds and under" - this means I'll be taking the baby & kids to free city splash pads rather than pools this summer.  Remember: kids + water safety = fun.

If you are in the Toronto area on July 20 & 21 be sure to visit My Kids' CBC Days (check out the event Facebook page for more information).  Live performances by Sid & Patty, The Doodlebops and more!
