Author Profile:

Heather van Mil is the sassy, somewhat sarcastic, seldom sanctimonious mama behind Life, Love and the Pursuit of Play. Having been a freelance writer for WestCoast Families Magazine, Urban Baby & Toddler Mag, Yummy Mummy Club and Modern Mama, among others, she decided it was time to write for herself, and launched her blog in Sept 2013. On it she chases Good Food, Good Finds, Good Fun......and 2 small children (which translates to yummy recipes, awesome product/service reviews, fun places to check out, a smattering of op-eds and lots and lots of her 2 gorgeous girls!). Just in case this wasn't enough, she recently launched her newest baby - Word of Mom Marketing - where she consults and strategizes with companies on the best practices and vehicles to reach and engage the young family market.

About my kids:
I am the lucky mama to 2 strong and silly girls, aged 5 1/2 and 15 months old. They love exploring our local parks, beaches and hiking trails, riding bikes, eating everything in sight and (much to my chagrin), Baby Einstein videos on YouTube. Thankfully they also LOVE playing with each other!
Parenting is...:
{insert definition here}. Whatever you said is true! It is ever changing and just when you think you have a handle on things, your kids change! Everyone's experience is different and if there is one thing I've learning in almost 6 years of parenting it is that one size most definitely does NOT fit all!!
We know you don't have a lot, but when you do, what do you like to do in your spare time?:
Curling up with a good book (or trashy for that matter, I'm not picky) and a glass of wine, playing the piano, or catching up with friends over some awful karaoke are all downtime treats!
When are you at your yummiest?:
After a full night's sleep. And a run. And a hot shower - by myself!
If someone wrote a biography about you, what would be the title?:
Muumuus and other one size fits all failures
What's currently in your purse?:
Squeezies (those fruit/veg squeezable pouches), about 10 single children's socks, a boatload of crumbs, a parking ticket that I haven't paid yet and my 5 year old's every growing rock collection. Maybe some tinted chapstick.
What superhero power would you like to have?:
It's a toss up between flying and invisibility. Or mind reading. Maybe decision making. That's a super power in my opinion!
If we gave you an elephant, where would you hide it?:
Why hide it? I'd keep it in the backyard and it would be the best babysitter ever!
