Brenda Fernie is an advocate for education on Autism awareness as well as is a mother of two, including the mother of a child with Autism.  Brenda works Full-time for the Kwantlen First Nation in Langley, British Columbia as the Director of Lands, Resources and Economic Development, where her mother resides and is also and Elder.  She is currently raising her family in the same community where she was born, Surrey, British Columbia.  

About my kids: 
My son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3 and currently is involved in an intensive home based ABA program. My daughter was born last fall and so far seems to be ok developmentaly. She is very interested in her brother and I think it will be great for them both to grow and learn together.

We know you don't have a lot, but when you do, what do you like to do in your spare time?: 
Going on walks with my kids in the neighbourhood, participating in community events at Kwantlen First Nation, traveling, swimming, watching baseball and enjoying time with my family.

When I am with my kids

Purse what purse? More like a diaper bag!
What superhero power would you like to have?: 
To read minds...this way I could better communicate with my son
If we gave you an elephant, where would you hide it?: 
Under my bed so whenever I wanted to travel he could take me there and I would never have to get out of bed!
