Don't Be A Fashion Victim

It's All About Being Fashion-Able

I follow trends. There, I've said it! I have been wearing the current "HOT Trends of the Season" since last season and already know what new trends I'll be wearing next season. I don't think this makes me a fashion victim, just fashion-able.

I'm not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way, 'trendy' became a bad word—like you should somehow be embarrassed if you were conscious of the current trends or, even worse, wearing them! The truth is, being on trend just means being fashionable, chic, sharp, smart, and stylish.

Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate giving into every trend of the season, but there really is no easier way to look current and put together than by sporting a trend that works for YOUyour shape, lifestyle, age, and personality. And remember, you can take it as far as you want to. You don't have to take the trend to the extreme, there are so many other ways to take part in them and have some fashion fun without going overboard. Here are some ideas at each end of the specturm to get you going . . .

  Current Trend: Bold Floral Prints
Sure, you can go all out and get yourself a pair of bright and bold floral print jeans, and even mix them with other prints (another big trend right now), but an alternativeand much safer optionis to do it in a flowy maxi dress or cute pair of wedge sandals.

Current Trend: The "It" colour of the season, Tangerine Tango (aka Orange)
If you're not afraid of being noticed, get in on the whole bright jean phenomenon at the same time, and get a pair of jeans in this super bright hue. If that's too much for you though, take baby steps and pick up a new handbag or other accessories in this hot colour of the year.

  Current Trend: Colour Blocking
Colour blocking is where it's at this year—from head-to-toe bold brights or pretty pastels. If you're a little leary of doing this head-turning trend though, start simple and do it with a cute pair of heels or even in a mani or pedi!

Again, remember to have fun with it and stop taking fashion so seriously—it's there to experiment with, and trends are there to make sure you do just that.

"Why do fashions in clothes change? Because, really, we ourselves change, in the slow metamorphosis to time." D. H. Lawrence

My mission is to make women everywhere feel and look great, and have an amazingly fun time getting there. Women are already so stressed out about getting dressed! Between the body image issues, struggling to keep up with and understand the constantly changing trends, trying to decide what they should be spending their money on, and trying to figure out what to wear with what - I have no desire to add to that nightmare. I want to make fashion fun again and change the way you shop and dress forever! www.practicalfashionista.com
