You've Got The Look

There are tricks to every trade. Makeup artist Miriam Gee shares her secrets to apply makeup to enhance all you've got in front of any camera.

Tinted Moisturizer
A tinted moisturizer should be your best friend. Not only will it give you an even skin tone with a tint matching your own skin colour| but will help moisturize while providing you with sun protection. It's a triple threat| and you'll love it. Best thing to do is apply it with a foundation brush which doesn't allow for excess product on your skin. It might take an extra 15 seconds| but makes a huge difference in the long run. (A secret tip - apply on your eyelids to act as a base for your shadow - or even on lazy days - acts as your shadow)

Concealer
Disguise your imperfections by appying concealer with a brush - under your eyes| around your nose - where ever redness appears. Then| dust lightly with an oil free powder onto your nose| forehead and chin. (These are spots on the face where an oily complexion can look obvious on camera)

Eyeshadows
To keep things simple| choose one shade that will compliment your skin tone and use that for your eye| from the base of the lashes to the brow bone. Then| take a smudge brush and using a lighter ivory shade shadow| brush that along just under the brow - to really give your eye a 'lift'. Use a powder shadow for the eyliner| dark brown preferably (black will look too harsh on camera) and sweep that along your lash line.

Here are some colours best suited to your eye colour:
Hazel - Blues| Olives| Taupes
Brown - Greens| Golds| Pinks
Green - Purples| Coppers| and Lavender
Blue - Peaches| Blues| and Slate Shades

Brows
Here's an important tip - before getting your picture taken| get your brows done. It's the one thing that will truly make a difference in the way you look on camera. A well shaped brow can make you looks years younger and awake!

If you can get your brows groomed often| great. If not| get some eyebrow gel - it looks like clear mascara. Sweep this over the brows in an upward motion. This will help them look clean and full. If needed| take some eyeshadow powder (similar to your natural brow colour| and a little lighter than your hair colour) and sweep the colour along your brow| following the natural line| filling in where your brows may look sparce. You'll see a fuller| more shapley brow| ready for your closeup.

Lashes
Get a great lash curler| and curl them. lash lesson 101 -Do not put mascara on first! Always remember to wipe the curler clean first. You don't want to lose any lashes due to a dirty curler. Hold the curler close to the lash line and press together for about 10 seconds. Next| take your mascara and wiggle the wand through your lashes back and forth twice for fuller looking lashes.

Lips
We call this the Icing on the Cake. Start with exfoliating your lips with a soft tooth brush to stimulate your lips.
This will bring a natural bright tone to your lips| as well as stimulating them to make them look plumper. Now apply your gloss or lipstick.

Here are tips for choosing the right lip tone. If you're Fair| go for pale peach or pink. Olive Skin looks good in wines and carmels. Dark Skin works well with deep plums and wines.

Cheeks
For sexy cheeks| sweep your blush on the apples of the cheekbones in a upward motion. Stick with Pale Peach or Pink if you're fair. Go for plums| reds or browns if you have olive skin. Brick reds look great on dark skin. Make sure the blush is well blended.

You're ready to smile for the camera. Remember| you've got the look. Now| just give some yummy attitude!
