I consider myself lucky to have so many great friends, colleagues, and neighbours and during the holidays I want to let each of them know that I am thinking of them. It’s impossible (and costly) to buy every single one of them a gift but I love being able to leave something homemade on their desks or door steps to let them know we wish them a Merry Everything at this time of year.
These recipes are my go-to favourites. They have been made, tasted, perfected and gifted many times and because of how easy they are every recipe is Canned Soup Mom [1] approved!
The Five Easiest Cookies You Can Bake For Christmas [2]
When I put this list together, however, I must have been all hopped-up on sugar from the baking because my math is off—consider this a Top Six or a Top Five with Bonus list of what I am sure will become your favourite holiday food gifts too.
I made these last year for the first time and they were at the top of my list for this year’s holiday food gifts because they are just so good and so very very easy. The hardest part is un-wrapping each individual caramel but if you have kids then put them to work! Even my three year old can help this year.
What you need:
1 pkg. caramels (I use the 269g Kraft package)
5 oz. dark chocolate (That’s 5 squares of the Baker’s Premium 70% Dark Chocolate)
Sea salt to top
What to do:
Unwrap each individual caramel (see note above re: child labour).
In microwave on 50% power melt chocolate checking regularly so not to burn.
Using a toothpick inserted into caramel or a fork, dip each caramel into melted chocolate and coat evenly.
Place chocolate coated caramels onto baking sheet lined with wax paper, sprinkle tops with a little bit of sea salt and when all of the caramels are coated and topped refrigerate until set (approx. 20-30 minutes).
How to gift it:
Get out those dollar store holiday-themed cardboard gift boxes and layer these between wax paper for the perfect gift!
