Vacationing In Las Vegas, Nevada

A Playground For Adults

Las Vegas, Nevada

I do believe that you can’t go wrong with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. It is usually a quick trip. In fact, the travel packages that are often offered to Las Vegas are typically for three nights. This may seem too short a timeframe for a holiday, but you honestly wouldn’t want to go for much more than this. It truly is only all your body can handle—and of course I mean from all the walking that you do up and down the Vegas Strip, and nothing to do with the fact that while in Vegas you tend to overeat, overdrink, and starve your body of sleep!

Depending on where you stay, Las Vegas can also be a relatively cheap place to travel. I have yet to walk into a travel agency that doesn’t offer unbelievable seat sales to this exciting destination. If you do a little research I am positive that you will be able to find a trip to Las Vegas that is in your budget. Of course, the best part about Vegas is the fun that you will have. Who wouldn’t like a place where you can shop till you drop, gamble all hours of the day, take in world renowned shows, eat fabulous food, and see remarkable sights—all in one trip?! It has to be one of the most stimulating places to visit, and it is definitely the land of excess.

Speaking of excess, the hotels in Las Vegas are anything but boring. They are definitely there to offer you much more than just a place to rest your weary head. If you want to experience what life might be like in Paris for a few days, then the Paris hotel will not disappoint. If you want the excitement of a speedy roller coaster with a 144-foot drop attached to your hotel, then the New York, New York is the place for you. Whether you want a unique shopping experience, a surplus of tables and slots, some of the best spa locations, or superior entertainment and attractions the only challenge that you will come across in finding a hotel with all of those things is choosing among the many that do! Contrary to what some people may think, there is ‘life’ off the Vegas Strip.

If you have some extra time during your stay, and are wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core, there is actually a plethora of things to do. Check out the ‘Old Vegas’ on Freemont Street, for a nostalgic, old-fashioned gambling hospitality. If you are looking for some more shopping fun there are two premium outlet malls on either side of the Vegas Strip. Both are a short cab ride away, and the prices are much more reasonable than the shops in the casinos.

Located 15 miles west of Las Vegas is the Red Rock Canyon. The last time we were in Vegas we rented a car and took in this magnificent sight of towering red cliffs. It was definitely a nice change of scenery from the craziness of the Strip. And of course a trip to Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without seeing the Hoover Damn. Located 35 miles south of Las Vegas, this awe inspiring man-made landmark is said to be the highest concrete damn in the Western Hemisphere. Although you can rent a car and make the trek yourself, you can also hop on a bus tour that leaves from almost every hotel in Vegas on a daily basis.

So as you can tell there is no chance you will be bored with a trip to Las Vegas. In fact there is so much to see and do that I guarantee you will not be able to fit it all in during one visit. My husband and I have been to Las Vegas three times and we have yet to see everything that we want to see.

If you are looking for a restful holiday then Las Vegas may not be the right place for you, for it is definitely more fun than relaxing. Just do yourselves a favour and leave your children at home with the grandparents…Las Vegas is a playground for adults, not kids!
