Raise Caring Kids: 7 Ways Families Can Give Back, Together

Remembering Those Less Fortunate

Well, it's almost here! There is no better time to teach your kids about the true meaning of Christmas than right now.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year, when we gather with our family and friends to enjoy each other’s company, good food, and lots of wonderful presents.

Unfortunately, some people are not as fortunate, and it can be a very stressful time. It is important to expose kids to these truths and discuss ways that they can make a difference in their communities.

Some ideas on how you can help teach your kids the true spirit of Christmas:

Help your kids take up a collection in the neighbourhood for the local food bank.

Have them bring their piggy bank to the shopping mall to donate to the Salvation Army.

Make a trip to a nursing home and do some Christmas caroling.

Help serve food at a homeless shelter.

Put together a bag of toys and clothes to donate.

Ask a neighbour or friend who is alone to join your family for dinner this Christmas.

Bring some treats to an ailing relative in the hospital.

We make the world a better place when we remember the true spirit of Christmas—love!
