There is a change in the air. I feel it. The act of giving during the holiday season used to refer to making your naughty or nice list and then running to a mall for some power shopping. There is a definite shift. Giving stuff is becoming less important. Giving back is taking center stage.
Sure we're still going to go overboard on the electronics this holiday. Books, gift cards, toys, jewelery - you'll probably get some you'll never use. There will be thoughts of regifting. But hopefully this year, you'll get less and give more. It's become a family tradition of ours to pull back on all the useless plastic stuff and replace it with giving to some of our favorite charities.
