Health Benefits of Sex

Why Good Sex is Just Plain Good for You

Health Benefits of Sex

Indulging in sex on a regular basis is great for your over all health.

Research links sex to an astonishing array of physiological benefits, from longevity to pain relief. These benefits come from both the act as well as the emotional intimacy. Bottom line, especially for women, is getting a little something has great side effects.

 You Gain Energy
Sex is a form of physical exercise. Physical exercise, in whatever form, increases the level testosterone. This hormone strengthens the muscles and bones of the human body. Plus, sex burns a little over four calories a minute. Sex three times a week, if maintained throughout the year, is equivalent to jogging 120 kilometers.

  It Fights Colds and Flu
Sexual intercourse once or twice a week raises the body's level of the immune-boosting antibody immunoglobin A by one third.

  You Look Younger
In one study, a panel of judges viewed participants through a one-way mirror and guessed their ages. Those who looked seven to 12 years younger were also enjoying lots of sex - four times a week, on average. One reason they look super young, researchers believe, is that it raises a woman's estrogen level, which helps make hair shiny and skin supple.

  Is a Stress Relief
The satisfaction and the relaxation after sex are beneficial for the mind and the circulatory system.

  I Have a Headache - Let's Have Sex
For a woman with a migraine the increase in endorphins and corticosteroids during arousal and orgasm is analgesic.

  Promotes Regular Menstrual Cycles
A series of studies found that women who have intercourse at least weekly (except during their period) cycle more regularly than abstainers or the sporadically active. Intimacy is essential, not orgasms.

  Increases Oxidation
Sex increases the supply of oxygen to the cells and stimulates the activity of various organs and systems within the body.

  Reduces Cholesterol
Sex balances out the good to bad cholesterol ratio, as well as reduces the overall cholesterol count.

  Protects the prostate gland
Regular sexual activity eliminates harmful prostate gland secretions. However, a sudden change in sexual frequency can also cause prostate-related disorders.

  Promotes Marital bliss
Orgasm produces oxytocin in both men and women, increasing the feeling of closeness between the couple. A higher level of oxytocin will increase the frequency of sexual encounters between the couple.

  Gives Hormonal Supplementation
DHEA is secreted during sex throughout the body. During orgasms or just before ejaculation, the level of DHEA in the bloodstream is five times its normal level. High levels of DHEA have been associated with longevity, enhanced libido, building muscle mass, and warding off depression.

With all those great health benefits, shouldn't you be running out to get some...for the sake of your...um...health?
