Hey Moms, Let’s Bring Back Breakfast!

Moms, when’s the last time you made a decent breakfast for yourself?

Coming as a shock to no one, being a mom is mentally and physically draining on any given day. But on days where we don’t get proper nutrition in our own bodies it is downright exhausting.

A hangry mom is no fun for anyone.

I’m the classic example: I spend half my day feeding the babies. The other half is spent worrying about feeding the babies. Are they eating enough? Are they eating too much? Are we doing the right solids? Should they be having an extra bottle in the morning? Is the ratio of pureé to finger food high enough?

You know what I don’t worry about? Feeding myself.

To put things in perspective, my 10-month-old twins eat two breakfasts between 6:00 am and 9:00 am on a good day, three on a bad day. Three breakfasts. Before 9:00 am.  Two of these are liquid meals, breast and/or formula depending on which stage of the nursing strike they are on, and the third is a classic breakfast of solids consisting of: a fruit and vegetable puree, an egg omelet with breastmilk and cheese, and some starchy carb finger foods or iron-fortified cereal.

Sounds dreamy, right?

As I prepped the royal highnesses’ omelet this morning I sighed loudly to myself when I caught a glimpse of my now tepid full coffee and the stale toast that had popped up well over 45 minutes ago.  I debated with myself for a good 5 minutes about whether or not the toast was still edible, and how many times was too many to reheat coffee. (The answer is limit does not exist.)

I couldn’t remember the last time I had made or consumed what could constitute as a real or healthy breakfast during a breakfast appropriate hour. And you know who loves all things breakfast? This girl.

It’s time to bring back breakfast – which couldn’t be easier using the Braun PureMix Power Blender. With my Braun PureMix Power Blender, I can make an easy-peasy veggie egg mix, the fluffiest pancake batter of LIFE, almond milk (if I have time… so, in 5 years), frozen fruit mashups for smoothie bowls, and –of course—delicious one-step smoothies.

Starting with smoothies was the most obvious choice for me. The ingredients can be prepped at night and then quickly blended in the morning in the Braun Smoothie 2 Go cup <link> even though the only place I might be going is to is my couch.

And when I say prep, I mean that in the loosest way possible. I’m not about spending more than a few minutes washing and chopping all my ingredients. Luckily for me, the Braun PureMix Power’s 1000 watt Power Drive (yes, that’s a lot of watts) adds durability and better gear engagement for an ideal blending experience. This means I can throw in a whole strawberry or 6 pieces of frozen together banana chunks (aka an entire frozen banana) and the PureMix Power will still achieve smoothie success.

There is even a smoothie button which blends for a few seconds, the pulsates, then blends again until perfect. It also makes way less noise than traditional blenders thanks to the rubber coating, but I’ll still save my loud noises for when my babies are awake.

Here’s a few smoothie ideas for you in order to help you bring back breakfast. Enjoy!
