We invest so much time making special treats for the kids, but sometimes it feels like they'd be just as happy with the giant pack of Freezies from Costco. So why not invest that time instead in adulting your own summer treats?
These summertime recipes all contain alcohol and are definitely NOT for the kiddies, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy them!
Marshmallow Shooter Cups
Make shooter cups from toasted marshmallows! It's a little finicky, but fun. So while the kids are toasting marshmallows for S'mores, get them to toast a few extra for you to use for your Marshmallow Campfire Cups!
Mocha Baileys Fudgesicles
Go home, brew some coffee, and stir up a chocolately, Mocha Baileys Fudgesicle. Because us adults should be able to enjoy treats too.
Homemade Popsicles
After pouring the kids popsicles I had strawberry mix leftoever and no more popsicle molds. Hmmmm....what's a mom to do? *taps finger lightly on chin, looks up at ceiling* Well if you're me, you add vodka, mix it up in the blender so it's evenly distributed, pour the mixture into a juice glass, cover the glass in plastic wrap, poke a popsicle stick through the plastic wrap and freeze it.
There's just a handful of ingredients, so it requires no complex prep! Flavored with chunks of frozen berries, it's a sweet and fruity treat just right for a hot day.
Gin & Tonic Slushies
The taste testing was arduous (ok, not really). The best part? If anyone asks what you're having for dinner, you can say salad. Herbs and cucumber are salad, right?? Cheers to summer!
Icy Cool Wine Slushies
There are no real recipes rules—feel free to be creative and use whatever fruit combos you like. Or find inspiration from the flavour notes of your favourite summer wines.
