Tell us all about your blog
A Little Bit of Foodsense started as a branch of my other blog, A Little Bit of Momsense. I knew there were many parents who loved to cook and wanted easy but delicious recipes but by creating a new blog I'd reach a new audience as well who loved food.
There are several blog contributors in addition to me who submit recipes and because of them Bit of Foodsense has become my own personal recipe box. I try so many of their submissions! The Bit of Foodsense recipes are ones we've tried in our kitchen, tweaked and loved. The blog is meant to show readers that anyone can make these dishes, and encourage them to change the recipes to make them work for them. I love the comments that let us know what they did differently or what new ingredient they added.
What inspired you to begin writing about food?
As much as I love cooking food, I love eating it more. Great food should be accessible and really can happen right in our home kitchens, even with little ones pulling on our legs and busy days.
Describe your favorite food memory
My grandmothers each had a great cooking and baking talent. My grandmother's chicken and dumplings, donuts and sweet buns were incredible. My nanny (my other grandmother) could make a really amazing maple syrup pie and date squares. To this day, no matter how many variations of macaroni and cheese I try, her traditional and simple one tastes the best.
Cook or bake—which one? Either, both, and why?
Both. Cooking is kind of an art—less measuring, focus on details in appearance and subtle but delicious flavours. Baking is a means to an end for me— it's more exact but let's face it, is there anything better than fresh baked chocolate chip cookies?
What is the best thing you've ever eaten? Where did you eat it?
Oh, that is so hard. I'm a sucker for home baking (Thanksgiving dinner is a classic) but we've also had the chance to eat at some incredible restaurants with mouth watering meals. In general, I will always remember the way the food and atmosphere was at a restaurant in Whistler that my husband and I visited years ago. Soft shelled crab to start, an entree with a duo of lamb, cheese plate with our wine and a rich chocolate dessert (and I didn't share much.) It was divine.

Another tough one! But my go-to baking recipe is this chocolate chip cookie recipe that I originally blogged on A Little Bit of Momsense. The problem is not eating too much of the dough!
