Tell us all about your blog
Cream and Sugar focuses on everything food related from what we're cooking, to what we want to cook, to what and where we eat on our travels, to what we are reading about food in the headlines. We are busy snapping a quick pic of something yummy on our plate in restaurants so we can share the goodness, and we are the home cooks who delay gratification just a little longer to set up the shot before we dig in for a taste. It's a labour of love.
What inspired you to begin writing about food?
Cream and Sugar started with two food preoccupied friends with a love for sharing meals, dining out, and giving our two cents. After a few cooking adventures at NAIT culinary school and late night talks over good food and wine, we decided that we would channel our mutual love into a blog. We now write from two cities. Rhianna aka Cream is based in Vancouver, and I (Jill aka Sugar) am in Edmonton. We both have a sweet tooth and love to feature sugary treats. Cream regularly posts dinner inspiration for one in her "Solo Suppers" series, and being a new mama, I focus on quick weekday meals in my series "Dinners for Two and a Half".
Describe your favorite food memory
It would have to be watching my mom make pyrogies as a little girl. I remember trying my best to crimp the edges and waiting eagerly to sample the soft buttery dough filled with potato and cottage cheese. Fresh from the bubbling water and tossed in butter has always been my favourite. With sour cream, of course.
Cook or bake-which one? Either, both, and why?
Baking is such a science, and though I adore baked treats and have many go-to recipes, it's always a little intimidating. I'm much more in my element when I'm cooking. I can add and delete and substitute and improvise.
What is the best thing you've ever eaten? Where did you eat it?
Oh, dear. That's an impossible question. I have a long list. The roasted chicken at Zuni Cafe in San Francisco. Stinky cheese from Androuet in Paris. Gnocchi with soft cheese and truffle oil in Florence. Bagel and lox from Russ and Daughters in NYC. The ever changing ravioli at Corso 32. And of course there's always the Ukrainian Christmas dinner spread. I could go on. Good food makes me happy.

I love throwing together a simple meal of spaghetti and meatballs. This is my version of Turkey Meatballs.
