National Daiquiri Day

I will look for just about any excuse to celebrate. Why not I say, life is too short. July 19th is one of my favourite examples of this, it is National Daiquiri Day, I may just have a parade.

The drink was invented in 1898 in the small iron mining town of Daiquiri near Santiago, Cuba by an engineer named Jennings Stockton Cox as a way to boost the morale of mine workers during the sizzling summer months. Ya gotta love some cocktail trivia. I am no miner but a fab daiquiri on a hot day (or any day for that matter) sure boosts my morale.

So for this very special occasion I share with you one of my favourite Daiquiri recipes...Remember you can use any of your favourite fruits, experiment and enjoy.

Cheers!

1 ounce Malibu Rum
1 ounce Blue Curacao
1 ounce Pineapple Juice
1 ounce Lime Juice
1 ounce white cranberry Juice

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with fresh fruit . You can also enjoy this drink shaken on ice rather than blended, it’s all about options!
