Your Pregnancy Week 20

Pre-Natal Classes

Your Pregnancy Week 20

You're half way there! In aproximately twenty weeks, you're going to be holding your baby, asking yourself how this happened to you.

If you are thinking about attending some form of childbirth class, now would be a great time to register. There are lots of different types of classes available. Find one that suits your needs and shares a similar viewpoint. Don't get stuck with an instructor that thinks pain is beautiful if you are planning on having an epidural -- and if you do, try to stay neutral. The last thing you need to do is get into a pissing match with other pregnant women. They're crazy. Oh and so are you, thanks to your hormones. So choose wisely.

While you ponder your delivery you may find yourself navel gazing. Literally. That's because your innie may have popped into an outie thanks to your uterous pushing on your belly. It will probably go back to its original shape post-baby - but probably a slightly stretched version of its former beauty. Ah, the things we do for our children.

Your little one's brain is in the process of forming pockets that specialize in taste, vision, smell, hearing, and touch. It is likely that he or she can now hear (another reason not to get into words with the Lamaze coach or anyone else). That teeny monster is also producing vernix, which is a white sticky substance that covers their skin to protect it from its environment. Remember that tiny body is packed in fluid for nine months (kind of like really good artichokes) and the vernix keeps their skin soft and supple.

No matter where you’re at in your pregnancy our guide will keep you up-to-date. Find out more about what’s happening to your body here.
