Yummy Mummy Monica M. from Toronto, Ontario asks:After many years at home and school, I am going to start working in a real office for a multinational company. I need to get rid of the jeans and t-shirts and get a working wardrobe... The problem is I have no idea where to start.
What is the best (and more economic) way to get an office wardrobe together? Also, I am some 20 pounds over my ideal weight, I don't want to spend a fortune since I would like to lose the weight, but at the same time I want to get clothes that will help me like what I see in the mirror.
What are your suggestions?Dear Monica:
The best solution is to have a budget and plan to get started. We suggest you get an image consultant to help you find out what colors look best on you and then select 3 that look good together. When you go shopping stick to those colors and you will find you will be able to mix and match your wardrobe to stretch it. For example, start with black or chocolate brown as a neutral and add 2 other accent colors like cream and purple. Keep your pant or skirt neutral , and add colour in tops, scarves, your jewelry and your purse.

We agree that even though you feel overweight you should still invest in some clothing now! Life is too Short to be Frumpy. Start with a wrap dress. This looks good on most body types and you will be able to lose weight and still wear it. Fit is always important when you want to look good. Buy clothes that fit your body well now. Don’t be tempted to buy things that are on the tight side , just because you will be losing weight. You won’t feel good in your clothes and it is not healthy to feel bad about the way you look. You might want to start at a nice consignment store and find a high quality jacket. Then you can go out an buy some pants and tops to coordinate with it.
The main thing is to make sure that whatever you buy you love. Be picky! You can always have thing altered down the line to fit smaller.
