We asked Canadian Writer and YMC Member Erin Blaskie to share what makes her an unstoppable mom. Read Erin’s story...
When I was younger, I always got teased for being “too skinny.”
People used to tell me that I was a stick, that I should eat more, that I should stop walking with my chest stuck out all the time, etc.
I also got teased about my ears sticking out or being too big.
Both of these things almost made me stop being myself and stop shining my light out onto the world.
I remember being in class and shying away at times from responding or from speaking up but I pushed through it and developed an attitude over time that I love me for me, with all of my imperfections, and that I didn’t need to shy away from the spotlight because of what others were thinking and saying.
I think we need to be teaching our daughters and other young women that everyone on the planet is unique and everyone is beautiful. Our imperfections are what make us who we are and we need to embrace them.
