Our Secret Adult Language

Spelling B-A-D Words

no bad language

We spell words around our house.

It's our secret adult language.

We spell bad words like, D-I-C-K-H-E-A-D and A-S-S.

We spell words that I don't want the kids to say like S-T-U-P-I-D and D-U-M-B and F-A-T.

We spell words that we don't want the kids to pick up on like B-A-T-H and W-A-L-K and P-A-R-K.

We do this so often at our home that I often spell words in public and do not realize that I am doing it.

It's not unheard of for me to be talking to a co-worker, and when they ask me what I am doing for the weekend, I will answer with, "Umm, probably take the kids to the P-DOUBLE O-L."

Recently, I was at a friends house without my two children, but her kids were there. She was telling me an awful story about an incident at work with her boss. I was disgusted and shocked.

"O-M-G! " I shouted. "What a D-O-U-C-H-E!"

Her ten year old son looked at me and said, "Why do you keep spelling words?"

"Sorry, it's a habit," I laughed.

Then he looked at his Mom, and said,  "Why did she call your boss a douche?"

Douché.
