Losing Sight Of The Big Picture

Oops, I Did It Again

the big picture

I am a bad mommy blogger.

I confessbefore all of my friends, relatives, and followersthat I, once again, got discouraged with this stage of the parenting game, and got to that place of pure bee-atch-ee-ness with all those around me last week. YUP, I took the adolescent angst personally and let the big picture slip. Forgot that even great kids get angry and defiant sometimes. They’re human. And as far as tweens and teens go, our kids are tops.

Sleep and exercise would have gone a long way to build my resilience as the week went on, but, no, didn’t happen. I was too fixated on moving my blog platform instead (do you like it?)a worthy distraction in a businessy kind of way, though painful for someone who just wants to write (and not spend the day watching YouTube how-to videos, only to run into more issues requiring more videos). But I digress. Poor judgment on my part. But that was last week. This week will be very different. Life-changing, I think. I can tell already.

November 2nd Update: It was life changing! That week, I attended The Humber School For Writers; got a Slap Upside the Head from my classmates and my mentor teacher, author Richard Scrimger; and met experienced bloggersnow role models and friendsMarci of beingMarci and Mara and Randi of momfaze. My brain hurt from all of the learning I did that week, and it took me at least a month to sort through everything and try to make sense of it. Because I was so focused on writing about great parenting, I wasn’t enjoying our kids enough, which goes against everything I believe in. Things are more balanced now, I am happy to report. But for how long?  Until the next crisis, I suppose.

Now taking volunteers to slap me upside the head next time. Apply below.  : )
