March Break is one of those things you look forward to; it means a break from bus stop mad-dashes, homework, and best of all - packing school lunches. But by the third day in, many of us are tired of hearing moans of "There's nothing to do..." and wishing we had the means or the forethought to book that week at the beach.

"If you want to throw an epic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Birthday Party you need food, decorations and of course the Ninja Turtles themselves!!! I decided to create Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shell costumes for the kids to wear and play with along with some of their accessories (sward, nunchucks and ninja stars).  At the end of the party each guest was able to take home their turtle shell costume to continue the fun at home as part of their treat bag."

2. Spring Egg Carton Flowers

"We certainly have had enough rain and snow to result in some beautiful May flowers. Today I am talking about flowers made from paper. I was getting ready to toss my empty egg carton in the recycling the other day, when my youngest daughter asked if we could do a craft. Egg carton…craft…why not?!"

3. Silk Wrap Bracelets

"If you have charms that you would like to put on your bracelet: you can use flat nose pliers to open their jump rings and attach them onto the bracelet. Don’t forget to close the jump rings to secure them onto the bracelet. Also some charms come with lobster attachments, which means you can just open them and attach them immediately onto your bracelet!"

4. Minecraft Bead Melts

"What are these beads?  Commonly referred to as Perler Beads (the brand name) these small beads are used on peg boards and then with an ironing paper melted together.  They are very popular with the kids because the nature of the beads can look very 8-bit, just like old-school video games, as well as Minecraft."

5. Sneaky Science Rainbow Rock Candy

nugglemama.ca

"Spring break is here for many and if you aren’t jetting off somewhere warm then you are probably looking for fun ways to distract and entertain your kids. Rainbow Rock Candy is a fun project that will provide daily discussions of science without making your kids feel like they are back in the classroom. During the preparation and growing process kids learn a little about math, color mixing and crystals without even realizing it."

"Whether you're homeschooling or just looking for fun ways to occupy your children, here's an idea for a simple rainy day game that's great for kids of all ages. Personally, I get tired of seeing my son's head bent over his iPod for hours on end. When he was a preschooler he loved to read books and draw pictures. With the addictive powers of video games, the only way to get him drawing now is for me to get involved."

7. March Break Fun List

thisbirdsday.com

"I came up with a list of activities in case of rain, or shine, and added a few away from the house so we can get out without battling the masses because we aren’t the only ones off next week. All of Alberta will be joining us. I know that there are many more activities and places to go to, but since highly crowded areas make me twitch, I stuck to the ones that were low cost and most likely to be a little more quiet."

8. March Break Theme Days
