Fun Games To Play With Your Baby

Games to help develop baby's response skills

four month old baby

I have to say month four may be my favourite so far!

Niko’s personality is really starting to come out and his perception and motor skills are developing at a rapid pace. He is continuing to identify shapes and objects and is getting curious enough to reach out and grab different toys. Granted, sometimes those so called toys end up being my earrings, or his sister Gabby’s hair, but we’ve started to make sure we have soft, easy-to-hold toys around just in case. Toys aside, we’re really enjoying playing games that the whole family can enjoy. We have a lot of fun playing together and games like "peek-a-boo" help Niko build his responsive skills.

Here are some of our favorite games to play with Niko:

  This Little Piggy

This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home...and this little piggy went wee-wee all the way home! Playing with your baby’s toes is a good way to stimulate different nerve endings and engage with your baby. Changing your tone or using different pitches while reciting the rhyme can also help build babies’ responsive skills.

  Tummy Time

Tummy time can be a great game and an even greater way to help your baby learn to push up, sit up ,and crawl. Though your baby may resist at first, the best way to encourage him is to create a comfortable environment with fun toys placed around him, and for you to set an example for him to mimic. Lie down on your tummy alongside your baby, keep eye contact with him and start rolling around. You’ll be surprised at how much fun you two have together!

  Tickle Monster!

This game is guaranteed to cause laughs. Between four and six months, your baby is starting to have a sense of anticipation, so when you smother her with tickles, kisses, and hugs, a fit of giggles and gurgles is bound to follow! This game is especially fun for us since Gabby can be the tickle monster too. I love to watch them laughing and playing together. What’s better than listening to your children’s laughter?
