Double Chocolate Sweet and Salty Popcorn

Try This Recipe—If You Dare

Chocolate Popcorn Recipe

Dress up plain popcorn with a little bit of sugar and cocoa with a hint of nutmeg, and then add chocolate chips? Are you kidding? Take salt and sweet to the next level by throwing in some chopped peanuts too, if you dare. Warning: This popcorn is highly addictive.

Ingredients:

plain popped popcorn
salted butter, melted
chocolate chips
chopped peanuts
1/2 cup granulated sugar (try substituting vanilla sugar!)
1 1/2 tsp  unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 Tbsp nutmeg

In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and nutmeg. Sift the cocoa into it so there aren't any lumps. Set aside.

Using a large bowl, toss the popcorn with some butter. You don't want too much, but you want it to be coated enough that some of the topping will stick. Sprinkle some of the chocolate topping over and continue to toss. When you serve, throw a handful of chocolate chips, and a handful of peanuts into the bowl and toss a bit.

Leftover chocolate topping can be put into a jar with a lid and saved for another day.
