Our Eleven Favourite TV Dads

Help us celebrate all the dads in our lives...even the TV ones

by: YMC

This Father's Day, we will be celebrating the great fathers that we know and love and showering them with love and affection—and maybe even some gifts. Today we thought we'd take the time to celebrate the other dads in our lives—the ones we love to watch on television! Check out our eleven favourite TV dads:

Burt Hummel, Glee

"Your job is be yourself and my job is to love you. No matter what."

Heathcliff Huxtable, The Cosby Show

"A long, long time ago, three to four generations ago, parents didn't talk much to their children. At four A.M, the father would come home, look at his son sleeping, wake him up and say "Boy, go out and plough the field now." And the boy would rub his eye and say "Yes, Pa." And occasionally, the son would ask the father how much he'd get paid. And the father grabbed the plough, and ran over his son. Those days are over, because we have become more civilized, more sophisticated, but it's still inside of me no matter how sophisticated I get. And it grows over time. Boy, when I say to one of my children to do something and they say "How much does it pay?" I think I'm going to buy a plough."

Jack Arnold, The Wonder Years

"I get up at 5am, I fight traffic, I bust my hump all day, I fight traffic again, and come home... [smiles] And I pay my taxes."

Graham Chase, My So-Called Life

"Hypnotized By Food could be my Indian name."

Phil Dunphy, Modern Family

"I'm the cool dad. That's my thing. I'm hip. I surf the Web. I text. LOL: laughing out loud. OMG: Oh my God. WTF: Why the face? Um you know, I know all the dances to High School Musical so.."

Jason Seaver, Growing Pains

"You know Luke, I think you're really becoming apart of this family. Because you're really starting to tick me off!"

Steven Keaton, Family Ties

Andy: "Alex is reading me "Robin Hood," where he robs from the poor and gives to the rich."

Steven: "That's not Robin Hood, that's Ronald Reagan."

Coach Taylor, Friday Night Lights

"I said you need to strive to better than everyone else. I didn't say you needed to be better than everyone else. But you gotta try. That's what character is. It's in the try."

Tony Micelli, Who's the Boss

"Gee, what a great tub, eh? I mean, a walrus could bathe in there. Oh, no offence."

Danny Tanner, Full House

Danny: "Am I the raddest, baddest dad a kid ever had?"
DJ: "Right up until you said that."

Charles Ingalls, Little House on the Prairie

"You know we have a lot of funny notions born inside of us, Half-Pint. The funniest is that we're supposed to hide the way we feel about people. Let me tell you, everybody wants to know that they are loved, or needed, or cared about. Anybody who doesn't want to know that has something wrong with them."
