YMC.ca is so excited to announce our very first Visions of Motherhood photography contest!
Visions of Motherhood is your chance to inspire, celebrate, educate, reflect, or even laugh about what it means to be a mom through a visual medium.
This photography contest is an opportunity to put your creative skills to the test, so start snapping!
From all the entries, 15 finalists will be chosen and judged according to the following criteria by our panel of photo-savvy judges, including YMC.ca's Art Director:
We are looking for originality and freshness in photographs. How does the photo visually express your imagination?
In judging composition, we will look at how you have used things like lines, shapes, colours, patterns, values, textures, form, balance, space (and negative space) within the frame of an image. How are all the visual elements brought together to express the intention of your image?
The quality of the photographs will be assessed based upon details like lighting, colour, exposure and focus. We’re looking for top notch images.
We are searching for compelling images that evoke emotion—be it, laughter, poignancy, sadness, anger, love, wonder or any other another intense feeling relating to parenthood. What is that “wow” factor that makes the image impactful?
We are seeking photographs that share your point of view as a parent and as an image maker. What do we imagine is happening within your photograph? Tell us a story of your experience of parenthood through the lens of your camera.
This year's winners will have their images published on YMC.ca as well as our social platforms, plus receive prizing:
One Grand Prize winner will receive a prize package worth over $1400 including:
A CANON EOS M5 BLACK W/EF-M 15-45MM IS LENS, as well as a print package (outlined below), generously donated by Henry's.
First Runner Up: $500 CDN
Second Runner Up: $ 250 CDN
Five (5) Third Place Winners shall each receive $100 CDN
