The only thing better than spending time reading a good book is spending time reading a good cheap book. I've collected a few cheap and easy reads over time as a professional smut book enthusiast, so I'm using my powers for good to pass along the savings. The best part is that I would totally recommend these books even if they weren't $1, but because they ARE $1, it makes the deal even sweeter.

This Man is the start of the epic This Man Trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas. The third and final book in the series will be released on July 2nd, and from now through July 8th, the first two books are on sale. When I read This Man, I fell in love with not wanting to love Jesse Ward, and then when I read Beneath This Man, I really didn't want to like him. But then I was giving the opportunity to read This Man Confessed and REALLY fell in love with Jesse and the whole series.
This Man and Beneath This Man are definite must-reads for us smut book lovers, especially with This Man Confessed being released in July.

Both are self-destructive, obsessive, hurtful, controlling, petulant, domineering, and manipulative which makes for some borderline abusive sexual encounters. The first thing I tell anyone who is thinking of reading The Dark Duet series is that they are just that: dark. Without giving anything away, the books involve the kidnapping of an 18-year-old girl and the subsequent anti-romance of her and her captor. Though they are incredibly emotional and can be difficult for some people to connect with, all three books in the series are some of the best-written books I've ever read.

The first thing you should do before you read Epilogue is read the first two books in the Dark Duet series; this is not a standalone book. After your heart, mind, and lady bits have been ripped to shreds by Captive in the Dark and Seduced in the Dark, Epilogue is the perfect, no-nonsense bow to a messed up designer bakery cake. Lost To You by A.L. Jackson is a full-length prologue to the incredibly emotional book, Take This Regret. Together, the two books cost me about three gallons of tears and enough emotional scarring to last a lifetime. But at least it's not my life that's taking the beating these fictional characters mete out.

It's not really hard to read through goosebumps but it is really hard to read through tears. Good LORD, this is an amazing love story *slash* prologue to an even more emotional follow-up book. This first book of a two-part series is not really about physical pain (as I came to find out after waiting the whole book for the whips and ropes to appear), but rather the self-inflicted emotional pain of two people. Luckily for you, both books are published, so there's no waiting around after the cliff-hanger of the first book I had to live through.

Friends With Benefits and the other books in C.C. Wood's bookshelf are fun, quick, and are perfectly described as "beach reads." They are the quinntessential dose for a wrecked emotional system that needs a boost back from an emotional roller coaster. I highly recommend them for a shot of sexy and funny.
