A Recipe For Wendy's-Inspired Chili In The Crockpot!

As tasty as fast food, but slow-cooked with healthy ingredients

A Recipe For Wendy's-Inspired Chili In The Crockpot!

When it comes to fashion and beauty, I'm all about getting the look for less, so when I found a family-friendly meal that requires minimum effort for maximum impact, I had to come over here and share!

Although I love the convenience of eating out (a lot!), sometimes it's more satisfying to cook a restaurant-inspired meal at home . . . especially because you have control over the ingredients used. This Wendy's Copycat Chili recipe has been in my family for over 10 years, and while it is delicious, it is also labour-intensive (you have to stir it every 15 minutes for 2-3 hours!).

I've recently figured out how to adapt the recipe for my slow-cooker - see below. Tasty, easy to cook, AND healthy? TOTAL winner in my house!

Ingredients:

1.5 pounds lean ground beef
29 oz can of tomato sauce
29 oz can of kidney beans (drained)
29 oz can of pinto beans (drained)
15 oz can diced tomato
1 cup onion diced
1/2 cup celery diced
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp salt

Brown ground beef in a frying pan, use a wooden spoon to break up large pieces. Drain off any liquids.

Transfer to slow-cooker (I use a 4 quart oval one), add in all the other ingredients.

Cook on high for 3 hours. DONE! So simple and soooo good!

You can garnish with grated cheddar, diced onions, and cilantro.

(Makes 12 servings)

I usually divide the chili into 3 portions. I serve one to my family of 4 and freeze the other 2. In my house, we have it over rice or with tortilla chips. You can also serve it over baked potatoes, french fries, hotdogs—the possibilities are endless! If you're not a fan of red meat, you could also try it with chicken or turkey mince instead.

How To Dress Like A Modern-day Princess!

Steal Her Style: Kate Middleton

by: Zeba Khan

How To Dress Like A Modern-day Princess!

It’s easy for celebs to look glam all the time—they have stylists and beauty teams. Why not benefit from their access to experts and take inspiration from their looks? In my Steal Her Style series, I turn the spotlight on a Celeb Yummy Mummy and analyze the key elements behind her style. I pick an outfit and recreate it with affordable pieces currently available in stores. If you have a Steal Her Style request for a future post, please leave it in the comment section below!

From the moment her royal engagement was announced, all eyes have been on Kate Middleton. Picture perfect with immaculately coiffed hair and carefully selected outfits, Kate has adapted to the global spotlight with poise and grace. She has won fans with her knack of incorporating mass market pieces into her wardrobe, and her willingness to remix and repeat outfits...Princesses, they're just like us!

Kate is known for her love of ladylike dresses paired with classic heels and a simple clutch. In the picture below, she is wearing an LK Bennett Dress ($425) with Alexander McQueen pumps and a Cartier watch. I've tried to repliKate her outfit with similar items at a lower price point — hope you like the look!

2. Lab Created Sapphire Earrings, $99.99, Peoples

3. Summer Days Dress, $103.27, ASOS

Do You Want To Visit The Yorkdale American Girl Boutique?

Take a peek inside one of Canada's first American Girl Boutiques. Comment on this post for the chance to win an American Girl Doll!

Do You Want To Visit The Yorkdale American Girl Boutique?

Ever since the May 3rd launch of American Girl Boutiques in Canada, my daughter and I have been eager to visit the Yorkdale Indigo location. This past weekend, we made our first trip there—here's our photo diary:

The American Girl Boutique is located on the second floor of Yorkdale Indigo, in a corner of the Indigo Kids section.

Across from the entrance lies the Hair Salon, where your doll can get a new hair style or have her ears pierced.

In the room to the left, you'll find Bitty Baby dolls on display:

Bitty Babies are the 15" baby doll siblings of American Girls. They are so adorable with their painted hair and ruffled sleepers!

This room also features 2014's Girl of the Year doll—a dancer named Isabelle.

But our main focus was the room to the right, which houses the My American Girl dolls.

Like so many of the other little girls at the store, my daughter wanted to find a doll that "looked just like her."

We narrowed it down to these two dolls, but couldn't decide between them, so we asked my son for his opinion. (Me: "Which one looks more like your sister?" Son: "Can we go look at the OTHER toys?" LOL!)

Our purchase was made, and one little girl left the store VERY happy indeed!

She couldn't wait to get home and unbox her new best friend. First order of business? A spa tea party with her other dolls!

Hope you liked the peek inside Yorkdale Indigo's American Girl Boutique.
