Parenting Tips & Beauty Secrets with Jane Seymour

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Seymour during her recent visit to Toronto. She was in town to promote her Open Hearts Collection, which is now available through Peoples Jewellers. I chatted with her about jewelry, parenting, and of course, I asked her to share some of her beauty secrets since she just radiates beauty!

Jane On Jewelry:

Jane believes jewelry is more than just an adornment, it can carry memories and remind you of your inner strength. One memorable piece from Jane's own jewelry box is a pair of earrings that she purchased in Spain after surviving a near-death experience. Looking at them reminds her of how blessed she was to recover. She has also purchased meaningful pieces from movies and TV shows that she's starred in - some of her favorite pieces are replicas of Wallis Simpson's legendary jewelry collection, which she acquired when she played Wallis in the 1988 film "The Woman He Loved."

Jane's Open Hearts jewelry collection with Peoples Jewellers is inspired by her artwork. One repeated motif in Jane's paintings is a series of Open Hearts, which reflects her belief that "while life is full of challenges, if your heart is open, love will always finds its way in."

Jane On Parenting:

Jane has always shared a love of art with her children. She encouraged artistic expression from a young age  - no trip to a restaurant was complete without Jane bringing along art supplies to share and use as they waited for their meals. This love of art has stayed with her children as they've grown up - her teenage twins frequently bring their friends over to her art studio. It has even passed on to the next generation, as her daughter and grandchild have an art table and love painting together.

As a fellow twin mom, I asked Jane about how she found the experience of having twins. She said that she learned a lot from her pregnancy, and even wrote a book about it (Two at a Time, published in 2002.) She incorporated information from her doctor, fitness trainer, as well as a section written by her husband about the experience from his point of view.

Jane On Beauty Secrets:

Jane's beauty philosophy is to "be authentic and make the most of what you have." Exfoliation is the secret to her glowing complexion - she applies a gentle peel at night and exfoliates with a textured sponge in the morning. Although she switches between different skincare brands she always uses a moisturizer with SPF 15. She is currently using Clarins products.

5 Skin Care Mistakes You Make Every Day

To maintain her hair, Jane gets Goldwell Colour applied every 3-4 weeks. She uses hair care products from Phyto, Pureology and Kerastase as well as treatments containing Argan Oil. She frequently does her own hair and makeup for events and feels most comfortable wearing red.

I loved getting the chance to chat with Jane and view the gorgeous jewelry that she designed. Here are my three favourite pieces from her collection - I especially love the rose gold accents!
