Web of Angels

By Lilian Nattel

Sometimes one's true identity can be a bit of a mystery. Sharon is a housewife in her forties with a family...but who is she really? Sharon has secrets and psychological trauma. How does she cope with her memories? She alters her reality. Sharon has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) aka Mulitiple Personality Disorder.

In Web of Angels, Lilian Nattel introduces a contemporary character with a mental disorder. Sharon is dealing with demons from her past, and as if she doesn't have enough on her plate, she discovers even more dark family secrets. The character is multifaceted and layered, but not in an overly dramatized Sybil or Tara way. Web of Angels is a psychological thriller that delivers a new take on living and coping with DID. The novel touches on taboo topics and family drama but gives it a real world perspective. Kudos to the author for putting in so much time and research into the topic of Dissociative Identity Disorder and giving it a human touch through Sharon's story. You can read from the novel by visiting the Random House of Canada Web of Angels excerpt.
