Vintage Decor Shopping in Nova Scotia

My Favourite Shops on the Lighthouse Route

Some of my best childhood memories are from the drives I took with my parents along the Lighthouse Route each summer. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the vintage and décor shopping is amazing.

This summer my mom and I recreated our trip, stopping at our old favourite shops and discovering some new gems.

These are must must-stop-shops on the South Shore of Nova Scotia {heading from Halifax to Bridgewater}:

1. Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
30 Hwy 3
Hubbards, NS B0J 1T0
902-857-3766

This place has been here for years and was always one of my favourites. There are some great finds, from wooden filing cabinets {that would make amazing end tables} to ornate silver pieces. I left with this pretty pitcher:

2. Come By Chance Antiques
RR#1
Chester Basin
Lunenburg County NS, B0J 1K0
902-275-3146

Another one from my childhood, this antique shop is in a huge old barn. I fell in love with the wrought iron beds sitting in the grass and a gold mirror that I would have loved to work some paint magic on.

3. Blue Shutters Antiques
3167 Highway #3
East Chester NS, B0J 1J0
902-274-5359

We almost drove right by this converted barn just outside of Chester but I am SO glad we didn’t. I can’t even tell you how many things I desperately wanted to take home from this spot. It is a co-operative, with each seller having their own ‘room’ and around each corner is treasure upon treasure. This place made me want to rent a U-Haul and load up mirrors, church pews and pastel buoys. Sigh, there is always next summer, right? If you are lucky enough to stop into Blue Shutters, mention my blog and get 10% off your purchase!

4. The Teazer
http://www.theteazer.com/
21 Edgewater Street
Mahone Bay, NS, B0J 2E0
902-624-9097

The Teazer is not an antique shop but it is brimming with fabulous décor. I get inspired each summer when we shop there. I love all of the pieces I saw this summer with an east coast feel.

5. Jenny Jib

www.jennyjib.com
174 Lincoln St,
Lunenburg, NS, B0J 1C0
902-634-1952

I love shopping in Lunenburg and I already wrote about one of my favourite spots. Jenny Jib is another décor paradise. From vibrant fabrics to adorable accessories for children’s spaces, it is a must stop shop.

6. Lighthouse Buy and Sell

www.lighthousebuyandsell.ca
Pleasantville, NS
902- 530-7283

If you are wondering where I found most of my treasures that I shared on Cityline, now you know. This shop is hard to describe. It is kind of a cross between Horders and American Pickers and it is jam packed with….stuff. Stuff you have to peek around and climb over. Just my kind of place. I loved the hunt and found something every time I went, including the frame I used in my DIY project on Cityline. And the prices are ah-mazing! Call ahead though, they are only open a couple of days a week.

I honestly can’t wait to head back to each of these shops next summer. What is most exciting is that we can leave the playpen and stroller at home which means more room for shopping!
