5 Tips a Stress Free Canada Day Party

Canada Day is a time to gather with friends and family to celebrate our country - plus the fact that we can finally go outside without wearing 500 layers. Or something like that. If you are hosting a party this year, here are some tips to make it easy, fun and delicious for you and your guests.

1. Online Invites

Sending online invitations helps keep track of RSVPs. Using a site like Evite allows you to keep your guest list organized, send reminders and have all party information located in one convenient place.

2. Share The Work

Friends are more that happy to contribute to a party. Have your guests pitch in by bringing an appetizer or wine. Let them know the theme and encourage them to get creative.

3. Play With Your Food

Okay, I don’t mean this literally but you can have some fun with presentation or food names. Who wouldn’t want to dig into deviled eh-ggs, Canadian canapés,  or one of these delicious treats below?

4. Decorate

Red and white décor can get a bit tacky when it’s overdone, so keep it simple. When hosting parties, I often source décor on Etsy. These Canada themed decorations are instant downloads that you can print at home

5. Set Up Bar

Provide guests with a signature cocktail like this one from Finding Home (maple martini anyone?) and then designate an area as a mix-it-yourself drink station. And to be truly Canadian, make sure to set a cooler on the back deck stocked with beer and other cold beverages.

No matter how you spend the day, I wish you and yours and fun, firework-filled Canada Day!
