I wanted to create a fun piece of art for Halloween so I headed to my favourite crafty store, Michaels, for inspiration. When I found these Martha Stewart Halloween wine bottle labels I knew just what I wanted to make: art!
I then picked up three Ikea ribba frames and some scrapbook paper. I bought two sheets of black to make the bottles and a book of paper for the backgrounds. I like to buy patterned paper by the book because the patterns and colours all work so well together. I used The Sweet Blossom Stack from DCWV.
The next step it to create the bottle shapes. I drew mine freehand on paper and then cut them out to use as tracers. This is handy in case you make a mistake or you want to re-use them. To make sure they are perfect, fold them in half and cut so both sides are the same.
TIP: lay the label on the paper before making your bottle tracers. Also make sure they will be the right size {as in not too big} for the matte opening. I did not do this, so I had to tape each of these over the mattes. Oops.
Once the black bottles are cut out, add the labels to them and glue each bottle onto a background. Then you are ready to frame them.
TIP: You could also create canvas art using this idea: paint it the canvas a solid colour and glue the three bottles in a row.
